The Scope of the Course

Applicants who are interested in Sufism, yet have not had an opportunity to get acquainted with this ancient tradition, hopefully will be able to have an understanding and taste of it through this program. 

About the Lecturer

Elif Ömürlü Uyar was born in Istanbul. She graduated from ITU (Istanbul Technical University) Department of Business Engineering. She took her first music lessons from her father, Yusuf Ömürlü. During the years of college, she joined the Choir of Istanbul University. For years, she was inspired by various gatherings with the attendance of esteemed artists of their time at the house of famous composer, Cahit Özkan. 

Since 2016, she has been running the Istanbul Türk Ocağı Ömürlü Music Ensemble. Since 2019, she has been giving lectures on Sufi music. She is currently a graduate student in Institute for Sufi Studies.
